accidentalbuddha: Wow. I’ve logged over 2,000 miles of bike commuting so far this year. I’m hoping that I can eke out a full 3,000 miles in 2013, like I did last year, before the bike goes onto the dreaded trainer for the snowy winter months. It’s starting to get awfully cold in the morning though. 36 degrees this morning. Once it goes below freezing, I’m bussing it to work. For those interested, I’m riding a Salsa Vaya gravel grinder with Retroshifters. The bike is a bit heavy with the wide stock tires, but the bike itself is perfect for rural backroad long distance commuting. I promised myself that I’d get thinner tires when the stock tires wore out. The problem is that the Schwalbe Marathon Mondials just won’t die. 5,000 miles so far, and no appreciable wear. And yes, that is the ubiquitous Brooks B-17 saddle. I’d never trust my butt to anything else. :-) -- source link
