the-exercist:mrgreatfitness:Pain is a gift. Instead of avoiding it, learn to embrace it. Without pain there is no growth.Nope! Not just untrue, but blatantly dangerous!Pain is a sign of injury and severe strain. If you are constantly pursuing pain and/or soreness as a kind of fitness validation, then you are engaging in a form of self-harm. Really. It’s not healthy to deliberately provoke a feeling of pain.Pain exists to give us messages about what’s happening with our bodies: If you feel pain while working out, then you need to stop and reevaluate your routine. Before continuing, you have to find out what’s wrong: Are you using the proper posture and form? Are you being safe? Are you pushing your body beyond its limits? Are you in danger of injuring yourself? Are you actively seeking to hurt yourself or pursue pain? You can grow and make progress without harming yourself. It is not a necessary part of any workout. You can feel fulfilled and satisfied without ever hurting yourself. These things are not inherently tied together, nor should we act as if they are. -- source link
