Last week, we opened Marilyn Minter’s sensational solo exhibition PRETTY/DIRTY, a heavy hitter in our Year of Yes, celebrating 10 years of our Sackler Center for Feminist Art. This show is a breath of fresh air—especially on the eve of this election when sexist rhetoric has taken center stage and our ability to exercise agency of our own bodies is continuously called into question. Marilyn’s work is more relevant than ever with her sensuous large scale photorealist paintings and videos that confront the complexities of desire and the commercialization of the the feminine body head on.This week the artist will be present along with a killer crew of her creative comrades to tackle the current state of feminism and more! On Thursday November 10 Marilyn hosts some of her closest friends, fellow artists, activists, and creative thinkers for a series of rapid-fire conversations that tackle themes in her work, and the causes closest to her heart from feminism and fashion to reproductive justice. Did we mention this evening is about to be #squadgoals? Here’s who is coming to share the stage:Sarah Nicole Prickett, founder of Adult MagazineJohanna Fateman, writer, and post-punk musician (Le Tigre)Richard Hell, writer, poet and punk pioneerLorna Simpson, artistRyan McGinley, photographerJayson Musson, artistMary Heilmann, artistShea Spencer, agent and owner of Artists CommissionAbigail DeAtley, Director of Development at Planned Parenthood of New York CityPart of Thursday Nights hosted by @squarespace.
