imakegoodlifechoices:crown-of-weeds:marielikestodraw:windycitygirl89:(x)“mentally unstable looking guys and girls” “do not submit if you are anywhere near normal-looking or attractive”Wow Teen Wolf, wow. #weeds wtf is your show doingIT’S NOT MY SHOW.*hits jeff davis over the head with the ADA*So this is pretty typical of a background breakdown. They’re often poorly phrased and not spell checked. Casting directors get no sleep and handle a large quantity of BG every day for multiple shows. Its definitely problematic but its not unusual and its not a problem just Teen Wolf has. I saw a BG casting notice once for “REAL TRANNIES! Don’t submit unless you’re a REAL tranny!” Obviously this is horrible because its trying to get members of the community to submit for a job using hateful language. Its also not clear what they actually want. Are they looking for transgender people or drag queens or what? Tranny is an ignorant slur.Anyway, its a common problem with casting breakdowns. Sometimes people are more PC in how they phrase things, “character types” “real looking people, no models” “eccentric types” “extreme types” etc. But sometimes CDs don’t do that translation and just say “ugly crazy people.”And don’t get me started on how people will describe BG on set. “Bring me a hot chick. No dogs.” “Get that weird one with the buck teeth.” “Bring me that guy who looks like hipster Super Mario” etc.Fuuuuuuun.That’s not what bothers me? What bothers me is that Teen Wolf, with its history re: disability, with its “Lose Your Mind” tagline, is shooting a scene which is going to use markers of mental illness to signify horror.Like I don’t even know why I’m still watching. -- source link
