m4zlum:Jinwar - Free Women’s Village Rojava - Spring, 2017Jinwar is an ecological women’s village currently under construction in the heart of Rojava. As images of the Women’s Defense Units’ (YPJ) successful resistance against ISIS continue to spread all over the world, the Rojava Revolution has shown the true potential of women. Now, the women of Rojava have come together once again to continue in their struggle for a free and peaceful life through the creation of an ecological women’s village called Jinwar. In the midst of the ongoing Syrian Civil War, Jinwar aims to provide an alternative, peaceful place for the co-existence of women, free of any and all violence. The village was founded on the principles of self-sustainability and aims to give women the opportunity to provide for their own basic needs. There will be gardens, orchards, livestock, lands, and various workshops, as well as a school and an art centre. Built by women and for women, the village will be home to Rojavan women of all ethnicities and religions, and their children. Reconstructing our homes as havens of peace is a significant act of resistance in the face of violence and war. But far from being simply a collection of houses, the village will also provide an alternative way of life. Building onto the rich cultural heritage and historic knowledge of women, Jinwar aims to create a way of life in which every woman can reach her full potential free of the constraints of the oppressive power structures of patriarchy and capitalism. Jinwar will be a place for woman to collectively rediscover, re-establish, and reclaim her inherent freedom.Support Jinwar: Kurdistan HilfeStichwort/Keyword: WJAR-JinwarIBAN: DE40 2005 0550 1049 2227 04BIC: HASPDEHHXXXThe women who started the women’s village Umoja in Kenya in 1990 to escape the oppression of men, set off a chain of events challenging domestic violence, forced (child) marriages, genital mutilation, and patriarchal ideas about the role of women. Despite criticism and attacks, today the village prospers and several other villages for and by women have sprung up throughout the region. Umoja serves a great example of how society can thrive once women are able take back control over their own lives.Follow @jinwarwomensvillage for more. -- source link
