The film revolved around a Polynesian teenage aspiring sailor of the same name going on an adventure in the Pacific. Maui is the demigod who Moana teams up with in her journey. The casting decision began floating around a few months ago, and has now been made official via the wrestler’s twitter. Johnson himself is Samoan on his mother’s side, and is related to the Anoa’i family of professional wrestlers from American Samoa. Moana is slated for release in late 2016.
