Some recent shots of my three year old mare, DV PRECIOUS GAL (’Qisma’), who is by the stallion DV Shadow Of Destiny and out of the mare DV Precious Gem (whom I own, and call ‘Tara’.) Pedigree.By breeding, Qisma is a Straight Egyptian. Her ancestry is the Babson Straight Egyptian imports (*Fadl, *Maaroufa, *Bint Bint Sabbah, *Bint Serra I, *Bint Saada, and then there is a 6th that is not found in Qisma’s pedigree, *Bint Bint Durra) and the addition of the stallion Sirecho (*Nasr x *Exochorda.) Hence why her breeding group is “Babson-Sirecho.”She qualifies as Blue List, out of the Blue Catalogue put together by the Otts. however, her ancestors *Fadl, *Nasr, and *Exochorda all qualify as BLUE Star. The Otts discontinued their Blue Catalogue in the 1970s, so this tends to not be as relevant for Al Khamsa / asil horses in North America, particularly those new bloodlines that have arrived to North America in the last 40 years. She qualifies as “Old Egyptian” because her Foundation Horse ancestors were horses tracing only to the Egypt 1, 2 and Blunt ancestral elements as defined by Al Khamsa. This is in contrast to the “New Egyptian,” which is bloodlines that contain the Inshass horses as well. She is also “Sheykh Obeyd” because all of her ancestors are accepted by the Sheykh Obeyd Foundation International (SOFI). You can read the list of accepted Root Ancestors here. And, of course, by strain she is a Dahmah Shahwaniyah, going back to the taproot mare El Dahma. -- source link
