Interacting with the music was soothing, though. It helped him focus. He liked to sing, too, even though his voice fell flat of high notes and wavered on the long ones.That tone-deafness never bothered him; you didn’t have to be pitch-perfect to feel music, he thought. It was in your soul, or whatever. Something corny like that. Any time he was doing some slow task - whenever it was his turn to do station maintenance, or chart the stars - he had headphones in, nodding along, singing along if he was by himself. When he was really alone, he broke out the fake microphone and let the music consume him. Put on a show, an enthusiastic performance that was only for himself. -- source link
