mastani-s: “mastani apni taqdeer khud likhti hai” (mastani writes her own destiny) ♥ Mastani was the daughter of Bundelkhand’s Maharaja Chhatrasal and his Persian Muslim wife Ruhaani Bai, and second wife of the Maratha Peshwa Bajirao I. Mastani is often referred to as Bajirao’s concubine or mistress, but she was his lawfully wedded wife. She is said to have been a beautiful and brave woman; skilled in horse-riding, spear-throwing and swordsmanship and a talented dancer and singer. Over the years, she accompanied Bajirao on his military campaigns and also assisted him in running the day to day course of courts. How Mastani died is still a mystery.
