She was a med-school student. We both knew she loved to take things off of other things. Never the suture, always the scapel. Her grades reflected that, a prodigy at making inscisions and extractions, but doing extremely poorly at closing up afterward. I didn’t mind, I have to say I agreed with her liking, but there is only so many times we can share a date cutting up some pig body. It was then I offered up my finger. it was ecstasy in the dark room, the small cutting board over the bucket. We did it more and more, until the arm was gone and she was a drop out. She took up a job as a vet to cover debts.
