Slavery as punishment is still Constitutionally allowed. Here’s the official 13th amendment:Amendment XIIISection 1.Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.Section 2.Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.Add to this the fact that black Americans are incarcerated at a rate 5x higher than white Americans despite having the same rates of crime and you have the recipe for a new form of legalized slavery based on race. -- source link
