semobimarriedguy: exploreme117: All lives are important, I have no delusion about that. There are thousands of GOOD men and women on the police forces, around the US and the world, putting their lives on the line EVERY DAY. They protect you and I, when we cannot protect ourselves. When a situation gets beyond our scope, we call them in to do what must be done, what we cannot do. There are a some BAD police. There are some that make poor decisions based on less than 5 seconds of information, and the natural instinct to protect themself against a perceived threat. How good are YOUR reactions and decisions when you have no real time for evaluation and deescalation? I feel for the victims of bad police and sorry for decisions based on altercations that escalate beyond where they should, ending with lives lost. Dallas was a sick event that has many hanging their heads this morning. I am sick feeling about it. The lives of the police that are lost every day in the line of duty aren’t protested and publicized. I acknowledge that there have been lives lost to police gunfire and other treatment that should not have happened. My heart and support goes out to DPD, the police heading onto the streets today, those that protect, serve and care when no one else does. May the first responders be safe and all of them get home to their families. The blue line is thin for a reason. It’s made up of humans. People that are flesh and blood and make decisions that aren’t always the easiest, best, or most well thought out, JUST LIKE YOU. ♏ My thanks to all of those military and first responders who go into harms way everyday on behalf of those they don’t know, will never meet and who rarely have the chance (or sadly even the desire) to say thanks. Dallas was not only a tragedy in and of itself, but it is likewise a tragedy that it takes something like the events of Dallas to make us pause and ask hard questions about how we view those who protect us in no-win situations everyday. Only once we realize that ALL lives matter will there be an end to needless violence. And for those who would use a protest for peace as a cover for violence - may the violence you seek visit itself upon you. - Mrs. K -- source link
