Because Peggy spends so much time doing all her own work and never relying on anyone–she manages everyone else’s feelings and expectations. But here the way she shows Angie that Angie’s important and means something to her is by letting Angie help her.And it’s so different than when Sousa tries to protect and care for Peggy because Peggy can so rarely trust that it’s going to lead to equality, respect, and reciprocity. Sousa speaks up for Peggy without her permission, without checking up on her first, but Angie is willing to accept Peggy’s rebuffs. She’s upset, sure, but respects that Peggy can handle her own shit, and lets Peggy make amends later.Peggy and Steve don’t want to bleed on anyone; they don’t want to make work or create trouble.
