Day 18 of 31 days of my favorite scary movies goes to the 2000 Canadian werewolf film Ginger Snaps. This is far from the first time lycanthropy has been utilized as a metaphor for the changes that take place during puberty, but this film takes that idea to new and intriguing places. Ginger and Brigitte Fitzgerald (Katharine Isabelle and Emily Perkins) are the closest of sisters, sharing a fascination with death, until Ginger is bitten by a strange creature that has been killing dogs around the neighborhood and soon begins to undergo changes that concern and later frighten her sister. Brigitte starts casting about for a cure. The werewolf transformation here is well done, and the movie makes good use of dark humor. As much of the action takes place in the lead-up to Halloween, this is a great film for the holiday. -- source link
