echidnux:leviathan-supersystem:i know i already posted about this just a few days ago but look at this chart comparing life expectancy in various countrieslike holy shit look at how big the jump was in china between 1950-1970, look how quickly communism saved china from imperialist exploitation and brought china neck-in-neck with the major world superpowerslook at how thoroughly this chart debunks the propaganda which tries to claim chinese socialism was an economic failureWhile you are certainly right about socialist systems improving the standard of living in china (especially with things like universal healthcare and increased care for the elderly being introduced), I would argue this chart actually proves CAPITALISM, not communism, saved China.Look at the growth from 1960 onward. This is the time immediately following the Great Leap Forward, which is usually seen as a time of extreme communism. After this time (in other words, in 1960) the communist measures of the Great Leap Forward were reduced and some degree of capitalism was restored to China’s economy. This is when China REALLY starts to leave India in the dust. In other words, the extreme growth in life expectancy did not occur until China became more capitalist, not when they became communist decades earlier.not really- capitalism wouldn’t really be restored in china until 1978 with Deng’s reforms- and in the post-78 period, China and India mostly kept pace with each other in life expectancy growth. also china didn’t become communist “decades” before 1960, the chinese revolution occurred in 1949, so it had only been just a little over a decade. -- source link
