defunctfashion:Ball Gown | c. 1859・・・Usually I have an aversion to fringe used in sartorial applications as I tend to think it makes the garments look more like an ottoman than a dress. Maybe it stems from my detest of Scarlet O’Hara’s bullion trimmed dress made from the portières? But I can definitely make an exception for this stunning, quintessentially late ‘50s ball gown. The bicolored fringe trim perfectly compliments and contrasts painted silk taffeta. ・・・#historicalfashion #fashion #mode #moda #ootd #historyoffashion #vintagefashion #vintage #defunctfashion #ballgown #gown #couture #victorian #victorianfashion #glasgowmuseums https://www.instagram.com/p/BqXWmcTAMzH/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=798ptahljac8 -- source link
