I recently finished reading Stephen King’s book “The Gunslinger”, first in the “Dark Tower” series and though I am not a big Stephen King reader, I was really impressed. The book blends fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and spaghetti western motiffs artfully. I can’t wait to get the next book in the series. Basically a lone gunfighter, Roland Deschain (based on Clint Eastwood) is hunting down the infamous bad guy Randall Flagg aka “the dark man” Flagg is a satanic figure, possibly the devil himself, who was also the anti-christ in the apocolyptic thriller, “The Stand”, and other Stephen King novels. Flagg is responsible for the destruction of Deschain’s home and kingdom and Roland is going to get revenge even if he has to follow him through barren deserts, dark caves, alternate realities, and to the center of the universe (the dark tower).Clint Eastwood vs. Satan, I’d put down my money on Clint Eastwood anyday. -- source link
