meandmybentley: Hidden from plain sight, in the Spanish county of Baix Empordà, the small Catalan village of Peratallada boasts a stunning landscape project designed by Barcelona-based architectural firm @mesura.eu. Peratallada inherits the name from ‘pedra tallada’ meaning carved stone. One of the most famous and picturesque fortified villages in Spain – Peratellada is built around a medieval castle consisting of numerous structures which share a centralised courtyard. MESURA were commissioned to design and execute the landscape development of a private holiday residence situated right in the heart of the courtyard. Revealed in 2015 the terrace garden naturally coexists with imposing structures and remaining ruins. The efficient and sustainable design uses locally-sourced materials while maintaining a respect to the site’s rich heritage.
