After all these years, the shanty town from Popeye (1980) is still there. Now one of the major tourist attractions in Malta, the “Popeye Village” (Sweethaven in the film) has shows, films, weddings, boat trips, concerts, and more.Not bad for a film that flopped.The film itself is so-so—it’s the equivalent of someone rambling—though I can’t really judge it properly as it was one of the very first films that I saw, so it was all magical to me. It’s a fun film though, it has spirit, even though none of the comic set-ups seem to be working. -- source link
