2013 Carpenter Bee (Xylocarpa virginica) on the Swamp Sunflowers (Helianthus angustifolius)These native pollinators are always so hilarious, they’re huge and uncoordinated, like tiny flying drunken winnebagos. It usually takes the multiple approaches to successfully enter their homes. I’ll see them manage to land on flowers, and then they’re all ‘fuck these wings’ and prefer to crawl around for a bit, like this one here. Too many people try to kill them or view them as pests, but they’re the #1 pollinator in our garden. -- source link
