howardhawkshollywoodannex:Hoop Dreams (1994) is ranked number 509 on the TSPDT list of the 1,000 Greatest Films.While it is an undoubtedly entertaining documentary, the film is also overlong and conventional, so it rates only an honorable mention to my best 1,001 movies.It was co-wrritten and directed by Steve James, who was born in Hampton, New Jersey. He has 26 directing credits from a 1986 documentary to a 2018 documentary, and three writing credits, including one before and one after Hoop . All of Steve’s director credits are for documentary features and documentary shorts, with one feature and two tv movies. This is his only entry on the TSPDT list. -- source link
