{Universal Design Studio (featured twice before) designed this restaurant in Singapore.} The ten-year-long project of converting Singapore’s past Supreme Court and city hall buildings into a much needed hub for the arts is now complete. Hosted inside the refurbished historic buildings, The Singapore National Art Gallery includes a restaurant with delicate details worthy of joining it’s art collection. Named after the grandmother of the chef whom makes the culinary atmosphere – Julien Royer – the Odette restaurant has an interior atmosphere by Universal Design Studio which doubles as a spatial work of art. Guided by the words which describe the integrity of Royer’s dishes, the interior spaces are delicate, refined and elegant. The airy ambiance is achieved with the softened hues of natural timber, pink terrazzo marble with fluttering details in brass and nickel. With a layer of daylight, the raw materials gleam and shine in their natural state. The design maintains a reference layer of Colonial Era Classical architecture, with faceted columns in the dining room hearkening to the gallery’s Corinthian counterparts and an interpretation of the lobby floor in Palladiana marble.Photos Jovia Lim -- source link
