{Some lunch-time inspiration! Fresh, relaxed and elegant are the three words that interior designers Hecker Guthrie use to describe the Little Collins St. Kitchen, a homely bistro style restaurant based around a kitchen table concept.}The restaurant, located in the Paris end of Little Collins St, is a part of the Sheraton Hotel but reflects its own signature and identity. Shortlisted for Best Restaurant Design at the 2014 Eat Drink Design Awards, it pays homage to the grand European architecture and nearby high-end retails outlets of Collins Street.Honouring the Sheraton values of warm and homely, Hecker Guthrie have created a space that is comfortable and welcoming, a relaxing home away from home, for both guests of the hotel and local visitors. The design engages patrons in a domestic experience, with key parts of the kitchen – the ladder, island bench, crockery cabinet and kitchen table – playing a valuable role. American oak furniture compliments the brass detailing, hand crafted white tiles, Italian marble and dove grey accents. During the day the restaurant is flooded with natural light, while of an evening the feature pendant lights create a warm environment.Sophisticated details and well chosen design elements create a contemporary and domestic dining atmosphere that shifts expectations on the notion of a French bistro and provides a new modern take for a Melbourne audience. -- source link
