{Shanghai-based design firm Neri & Hu (featured before) have cleverly mixed bespoke lighting, oak furniture, copper mesh, and bronze piping to give Logan’s Punch Bar a unique ambiance; one that pays homage to the era of speakeasies and quaint, secluded back-alley bars, while maintaining a sense of modernity that mimics that of the ever-changing Shanghai culture. Layers, layers, layers!}Crafting the perfect cocktail takes precision. Finding the perfect combination of flavors and sensations to create an unforgettable experience; one that is complex and memorable. In creating a new interior for Logan’s Punch in the Jing'an region of Shanghai, designers Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu conjured up a space that is reflective of this refined and precise craft. The space is dominated by reclaimed bamboo and oak timber. On the floor, the ceiling and around graphics and accent walls, the wood used is reminiscent of traditional homes of the area, and also provides an ambiance that one might might have found in a back-alley speakeasy; intimate, quaint, and inviting focused on the camaraderie and comfort of enjoying a smooth drink with a friend.Hand-blown, glass light fixtures drip down from the ceiling, creating a tinted glow throughout the space. Bronze metal piping outlines the bar, creating a well-crafted framework that supports an array of circular mirrors, reflecting the diversity of the bottles on the bar back. Neon lit signs reading “liquid”, “citrus”, “spice” and “sugar” add a graphic element while filling the space with dramatic light and shadow that contrast artfully with the more intimate leather and oak seating areas. With this new interior, the space is as inviting and homey as it is intriguing and new-age. The complexity of the drinks served up at Logan’s Punch is matched only by the intriguing nuances of the new design. Whether it’s kicking back with a friend in the intimate spaces, or enjoying the company of the masses in one of the larger areas, the space lends itself to comfort and good times; reflecting on the old, or creating new memories.Photography courtesy of Neri & Hu -- source link
