{LOVE the marble walls in the suite bathrooms at the Cafe Royal Hotel in London, renovated by David Chipperfield Architects. The exaggerated grout/seam lines really add a sense of luxury and scale (though the shoji-screen looking doors kind of confuse me). The Spa also has the same monolithic approach to material… reminding me of another Chipperfield project recently shared.} The hotel is divided into three categories: Guest Rooms, Suites and Historical Suites. The Guest Rooms and Suites walls have been covered in rusticated Portland Stone, mirroring the stone shapes we can see on the beautiful Regent Street façade. The rooms are very generous on size taking in consideration that you are in the heart of the city. Bathrooms behind glass and brass double doors covered in Carrara Marble also following the exterior architecture. Very soft palletes where there are no strong contrasts, just subtlety and pure lines. -- source link
