Two Views of the Glaciar Upsala (Upsala Glacier) in Retreat, Lago Argentino, Santa Cruz, Patagonia, Argentina. Upper 2013, lower 2009.Source: NASA Earth Observatory. While the photographs were taken from opposite perspectives (north is at the bottom in the upper photograph and at the top in the lower one), it is fairly easy to see how much the glacier has retreated in the four years between the two shots taken from the Space Station. The cause is probably global warming, though the glacier has a history of surges and then retreats, and the Campo de Hielo Sur (Southern Andean Ice Sheet) is not retreating at anything close to the rates on the Antarctic Peninsula or in Greenland. -- source link
