{The Holiday House Hamptons opened recently, with this year's interiors set within a 130 year old renovated factory in Sag Harbor, New York. The participating designers were instructed to choose a holiday theme on which to base their designs. Creating one of the event’s most impactful spaces, designer James Huniford chose a Labor Day theme referencing early 20th century buildings. While the ceilings were left exposed to reveal rustic 130 year old yellow pine beams Huniford made a counterpoint with cubist armchairs, a swing inspired by Arne Jacobsen’s Egg chair and a variety of contemporary pieces (pics 1-4). Set within one of the newly constructed units on the property, Scott Formby’s playful pool-house lounge design was inspired by an August holiday in Italy (pics 5-6). Also set within one of the newly constructed units, West Chin Architects & Interior Designers outfitted a living and dining space in a calming medley of clean-lined furnishings, soft pastels and nautical inspired lighting (pics 7-8). Working within the same 130 year old space as James Huniford, designer Tamara Magel created a bedroom retreat for an imagined “day’s idyll on a boat”. The room boasts a mix of natural textures and contemporary pieces to contrast with the historic industrial space.} -- source link
