{Mall culture here in the Philippines is really something else. People go to malls here so often that they’ve coined the term “malling” - and it’s the national pastime. People escape the heat by strolling through the air-conditioned malls. They have Sunday Mass in malls. They have clinics in malls. Mall culture is so entrenched here that locals are proud to talk about how large shopping malls are, and consider them tourist attractions. Anyway, this brings me to this mall - the Greenbelt Ayala Centre, designed by Callison. Planned around the central park of the upscale Makati district of central Manila, the complex has a design that is indigenous to the culture and climate of the Philippines. The project blends indoor and outdoor spaces into a historically significant natural environment, establishing an urban oasis in a chaotic and dense world capital. The site is also designed to accommodate future phases of development, including housing, a hotel and additional retail and entertainment.} -- source link
