{First of my Filipino Friday series, while I’m here in my homeland. As one of the largest Roman Catholic populations in Asia, the Philippines has a lot of historic religious structures that really show how strong the influence of the Spanish was, after 300 years of colonization. The Paoay Church in the northern part of the country is an example of this, and is really quite a beautiful piece of Baroque architecture on its own. Using coral blocks and stucco-plastered bricks, it was built to withstand earthquakes, and is also considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I love how the buttresses on the sides are overgrown with vegetation.} -- source link
