snazzycicada:The CrossI shouldn’t propably admit, I consider this one of most romantic scenes I have seen, should I? Propably not. But hear me out: he loved her, she was his wife. Everyone around tell him she’s doomed, but he can’t accept that, can’t bring himself to think about her like that. She’s dead, but he refuses to abandon her. If she’s commited a sin, then he wishes to help her however he can to atone it. He goes on this dangerous journey miles away, with this little remnant of her - her cross - in his hand, just because of slight hope of saving her soul. They buried her at crossroads, but he buries her at one of the holiest places on earth - the Golgotha. In a symbolic way she and all the sufferings that drove her to death are connected into suffering of Christ the Lord. She’s in God’s hand now and in His mercy. -- source link
