{YP has come up once more in my radar again. This time, it’s the Park Hyatt Flagship in New York. Over and over, I find myself utterly entranced by their work - from the drawings, to their FF&E boards, to the final space. Rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows and light wood floors, and according to Glenn Pushelberg, a founding partner at Yabu Pushelberg, they are meant to give guests a sense of staying at a residence. “We didn’t want the room to feel commercial or generic and decorated it like you would do up your home,” he said in a telephone interview. Instead of a furniture set, for example, the pieces like a steamer trunk, gray ottoman and wood desk are mismatched. Other touches include wood paneling, a screen that separates the sleeping and lounge area and a custom-designed beige rug with a square, brushstroke pattern. The walls are adorned with art from the local artist James Nares, and although the works vary by room, they are all variations of brushstrokes.} -- source link
