Larry was an attentive father, proud of pram-pushing, fond of bath-time and bottle-feeding, easily persuaded that the baby loved him. His exuberance, never far off, led him to declamations which evoked shrieks of terror from his son, whom he then comfoted, panic-stricken. His over-concern at the baby’s apparently unbreathing sleep prompted anxious prods to discover if life prevailed: more shrieks and more comforting, deep sighs and cuddling. — Tarquin Olivier -- source link
