lesmiserablesfashions:lesmiserablesfashions:lavillemorte:pilferingapples:lesmiserablesfashions:Gloves bearing the portrait of the Marquis de Lafayette c. 1824 [x]#i edited the first image into the second one so you can get a better look at him#took longer than i wanted#……..doesn’t really look like him though#but hey you could wear these to go with your lafayette waistcoat that i posted a while back#a whole lafayette outfit#lafayoutfitWas the marquis basically like some eighteenth century rock star and this was just the olde version of a graphic shirt bearing his name/face or something??i mean, in a way, yeah! like these gloves are commemorating his 1824 trip to the us, despite the fact that they’re french, and from what i’ve heard, there were wayyy crazier examples than this! i read once about american women very excitedly waving handkerchiefs with his face or his name on them when he visited the city they lived in, because people really did go wild over this guy. and there are 36 us towns and cities named after him, along with however many parks, streets, neighbourhoods, monuments, etc. and here’s the waistcoat i mentioned: this one’s french and from the early 1830s, presumably owned by someone who was really pleased with his actions in the july revolution!once i’m back to my computer i’ll try searching for some more lafayette clothes & accessories – i’m sure there’ll be jewelry at the least!i’m back now! here’s a selection of my personal favorite (and easiest to find on google lol) lafayette accessories! ^ring, 1824 [x]^fan, 1824 [x] (he’s not on it himself but they’ve got the flags crossed there for a reason, and it was commemorating his visit!^handkerchief, 1824 [x]^lafayette fireman parade hat (?!?!), 1850 [x]and a few non-clothing items that i still like and will share:^parade banner, 1824 [x]^pitcher, 1824 [x] (original source deleted it, so i must resort to pinterest)buttttt if you like pinterest here’s a whole board of lafayette memorabilia! -- source link
