Stacey Rozich’s “Floating Worlds” at Hashimoto Contemporary.Currently on view by appointment at Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco, California is artist Stacey Rozich’s solo exhibition, “Floating Worlds.”Thevibrant and richly detailed watercolor andgouache works on paper depict mystic scenesfrom the artist’s folklore. The alternate realm Rozich has created through her prismatic work is equal parts familiar and strange - a bird-like creature stops in a garden for a smoke break, a plastic bag sits beneath the seesaw where he sits and aminiaturized doppelgänger hands him a lighter. More spectral scenes depict curious rituals wherecloaked and masked figures are surrounded by peculiar iconography. The artist states, “Compelled by the enigmatic notion that our everyday terrestrial lives may becoexisting with another fully-functioning surrealistic plane alongside our own, I have sought tocreate this world through a series of vivid scenarios and portraits. As it turns out, this surreality maynot be so different from our own reality: you’ll find that moments of miscommunication, embarrassment and awkward first dates can still occur regardless of your astral plane.”-Be sure to follow Supersonic Art on Instagram! -- source link
