Until then, it’s Protestant. So does any land blessed by a Catholic priest become a church? Can you just steal a protestant church by blessing it?Interesting question. Short answer: No. My Catholic high school had to be shut down because there was asbestos in it. The diocese didn’t want to pay for it so they sold the building and disbanded the school. We tried to get reinstated as a catholic school but the diocese said no. So we became a public school and moved to a former Methodist church. We tried to have catholic mass in the church but the priest told us that the land was not blessed by a catholic priest before a church was built on it.
