An Alice Update: If you saw the story updates yesterday, you know that Alice is not doing well. She really isn’t eating much at all, which is what the vet said would happen, even with the appetite stimulant meds she is on. She is due for another dose tomorrow morning, so I will see if that makes a difference. I sense that her time is coming to an end. Physically she is still doing relatively well, I think her belly feels larger, so she probably has more fluid accumulating from the FIP. Just a reminder, as I’ve had many DMs about this, I know there is a treatment (black market) for FIP, but Alice is not a good candidate as she also has PKD (Polycystic kidney disease), and the treatment would be hard on her kidneys, not to mention the treatment itself is difficult, extremely long, and not supported by vets. So, I continue to work to keep her as comfortable as possible, keeping her warm, carrying her and lifting her onto furniture so she doesn’t have to expend the energy. We are carefully watching and monitoring her for signs that the time has come, as we don’t want her to suffer. I have tried multiple wet foods, baby food (meat based), etc., the only thing she is really eating is a few kibble pieces (samples from the local pet store), and she was having some ice lolly licks (canned salmon broth), but is now turning her nose up at that. I did manage to get her to have a bit of a Weruva packet today, as well, but she has still eaten so little. It is not a good sign. Once again, I appreciate all your comments, even if they make we cry and tear up. I’m so touched by how many people love her and are thinking of her.
