Last month the Young Leadership Council (YLC) dove straight into the fall season with two stellar events, that took us both to new heights and behind-the-scenes.First, the YLC kicked off the fall season with a rooftop party at Dumbo House: spending the evening with members and friends alike—and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge as our backdrop all the while—led to quite the unforgettable night! Team Brooklyn has been working hard with the YLC to create a dynamic space for young patrons of the arts to come together and support the Museum, its artists, and the surrounding community. It was wonderful to share the evening with everyone and looking forward to the rest of our upcoming season!Which, a few weeks later, YLC Members got an exclusive behind-the-scenes preview of Christie’s Fall Photographs Auction. On view were over 200 photographs set to be auctioned off, with the collection featuring a broad overview of the history of photography and included works by Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Weston, Dorthea Lange, and many other notable figures. One of the many highlights included a grouping of Andy Warhol Polaroids featuring icons like Grace Jones and Truman Capote. YLC Members were treated to a guided tour of the collection where they not only learned the history behind the work, but also about the process of acquiring, conserving, and auctioning off such important objects. It was a fascinating look at the backstory and the possible future of the historic photographs on display!Posted by Kathryn JohnsonPhotos: Kolin N.
