Gyruss was perhaps the first game I fell in love with at @grinkers back during Grinkfest 2. I spent most of my time playing that and Monaco GP (more on that later). We picked this up not too long after that trip, I think.A lot of little things have been done here but nothing too exciting. Well okay, a new Monroe stick was literally a game changer but otherwise, a new coin door and control panel overlay is about it. Still some cosmetic work to do (note the black sides and that weird thing below the marquee) as well. I also picked up a @konami Time Pilot PCB to switch out sometimes and that’s when the trouble started… Upon plugging it in the first time, a cap on the board blew and the power supply was reading bad (I forget the details now). Probably coincidental and I’m glad the Gyruss board wasn’t damaged since a TP board is much cheaper and easier to find. I repaired the TP and replaced the power supply but anytime a board is connected, the power supply reports a short. I found some cracked pieces in the original harness connector at the board and thought perhaps something was shorting in there and replaced the connector and some of the pins but still have the same issue.I haven’t been able to spend more time on it since, but am confident I’ll figure it out at some point. At least this is my only non-working game at the moment, right? -- source link
