macpye:themodernsouthernpolytheist:paleohistoria:This is Seahenge, also known as Holme I, an early bronze age momument located in Norfolk, England. It consists of a timber circle with an upturned oak trunk in the centre. There’s a lot of cool info on this!!! Francis Pryor, archaeologist and one of the specialists in the field of Bronze Age archaeological sites in wet conditions like these, was involved in excavating this site. He wrote a book about it (and Flag Fen, another ritual site from the Bronze Age) and was in the Time Team Special on it. Both are worth checking out! The Time Team Special includes them making a reconstruction of Seahenge, giving an idea what it’d have looked like when it was just built. -- source link
