They toned it down slightly for the movie because the reality was implausible. He was wearing HALF of his medals! You tell Zhukov he can’t wear them Game recognizes game among kings To give an idea of how much of a Chad Zhukov was, he was possibly the only person Stalin considered to be a direct threat to his power and influence who Stalin dared not to trifle with, as he knew full well that had an order been given to execute/imprison him his own underlings would have likely turned on him on the spot. Also, much to Stalin’s paranoid frustration, Zhukov was perhaps one of the few people who “figured him out” so to speak and was able to emotionally dominate him.So despite Zhukov having to be censured multiple times for attempting to publish works that heavily criticized Stalin’s rule and his purges, the best Stalin could do was strip him of his rank and relegate him to doing unimportant busy work in Siberia, at which point Zhukov still maintained enough influence and pull among the Red Army to essentially walk in an resume complete command of it once Stalin died and his banishment was over. Too bad he was absolutely incompetent as a general and is directly responsible for the ridiculous losses on the eastern front -- source link
