- Souls of The Sailor Soldiers - Today I wanted to discuss the very important role of Sailor Crystals, or Star Seeds.Sailor Crystals are the true soul of a Sailor Soldier, only those who possess one can transform into a Sailor Scout. It is these Star Seeds that allow them to be reborn again and again. This means that the Sailor Soldiers are indeed mortal. Their bodies can be hurt, they can die; but as long as the Sailor Crystal stays intact, they can continuously be reborn again. It is also this Crystal that designates them as the Princess of their Planet. (Princess formes of each planet shown in second image) The only way for a Sailor Soldier to truly die is if their Sailor Crystal returns to the Galaxy Cauldron. The Galaxy Cauldron is the birthplace of all star seeds and all living things in the galaxy. It is stated to be at the center of the Milky Way galaxy.There are also variations of Sailor Crystals. This can be seen most importantly in the Sailor Crystal of Sailor Moon, the Silver Crystal, which has been incarnated within Queen Serenity, Princess Serenity, and Usagi Tsukino. The Silver Crystal is portrayed as one of the, if not the, most powerful artifact in the universe. It is because of this Crystal that all other Planetary Guardians look to the Moon as a Queen, as a Goddess. Another variation of Star Seed is the one incarnated within former Prince Endymion and present Mamoru Chiba/Tuxedo Mask. It is called The Golden Crystal, and serves as both his star seed and as the Sailor Crystal of Earth. When Mamoru was Prince Endymion he used it to protect the Golden Kingdom on Earth. It works similar to the Silver Crystal and actually adds to the Silver Crystal’s power. In the future when it is activated, the Golden Crystal works together with the Silver Crystal to revive Elysion and transform Mamoru and Usagi into King Endymion and Neo-Queen Serenity.The last Star Seed variation is the Crystal of Sailor Galaxia. Her crystal is named the Saffar or Sapphire Crystal, and is said to have almost as much power as Sailor Moon’s Silver Crystal. Because her Crystal is so powerful, Galaxia’s goal is to rule the universe - to reorganize it in the image of chaos. In closing: I believe that in worshipping the Sailor Soldiers, it is important to remember the Princesses of the Planets, the original holders of the Sailor crystals. They are the true Goddesses within each Scout. They are the Soul of the Planet, the source of the magic. In an example, I would not worship Rei Hino as a deity because I feel she would be uncomfortable with that as she is a Miko shrine maiden in her civilian forme.
