It was one of the first astronaut movies I have seen where someone made everyone THINK ABOUT THIS TRAGEDY RATIONALLY PLEASE and make the hard decisions to keep everyone alive. His character was not nice, but he always had his eyes set firmly on the goal, never giving into his fears or his desires or his compassion. I admire his willingness to swallow the necessary sins to let everyone else survive. -- source link
