“I was first introduced to Ian Marter during the filming of Robot, Tom Baker’s first story, in 1974. […] Years later, we met again – in club class on British Airways, en route to Chicago; we were going to attend a convention there. The time seemed to fly by. From then on, alas for only three years, we tended to be in constant communication. He encouraged me to write – indeed, we performed many sketches and cabarets together, written mainly by him with me putting my two hap'orth in. When he died, at far too young an age, I felt numb: such a witty, gentle man, with many talents. At his funeral, and with his widow’s permission, I managed to blurt out a few words, the last sentence of which was that I thought I should miss him, rather a lot. I still do.”Nicholas Courtney talking about his friendship with Ian Marter, as an introduction to the DVD version of Ian’s Myth Makers interview. -- source link
