steampunkdruid:“It (The Wall of the Faithless) is only a structure. It will not survive time and faith. It will not survive me.”The Wall of the Faithless in the Forgotten Realms is Myrkul’s punishment to those who chose not to follow any of the gods of the realm. It is a “foundational” structure because the gods of said realm survive off of belief. So, disrupting this by not believing in a god, is like boycotting major industries or protesting government as…The punishment is far worse than a lynching or imprisonment, however. Upon death, such souls are added to the Wall like stones. The Wall, like a parasitic weed, tears apart and swallows said soul, destroying them slowly and wholly. And, here is where Kaelyn the Dove comes in. Born as an angel of faith, when Kaelyn finds out about the wall, she enters into the service of the god of suffering and mercy, Illmater, and begins a crusade to free the Faithless souls. She is not doing it to save a loved one, nor for glory, nor for really any greedy reason - it is simply an unjust system that she seeks to tear down. Kaelyn the Dove is admittedly one of my favorite characters, given, I like all the characters in Mask of the Betrayer.@weare-revolutionary this is one of my favorite revolutionaries in all of fantasy. I hope you like her too. -- source link
