sussexbound:mirajani:johnlockiseternal:Johnlock: Sussex LifeWhy is everyone in such a hurry for them to retire? I want more Adventures In Johnlock at Baker St.@mirajani, for me it’s because they have both been through so much trauma (physical and psychological), and they are both so tired. I just want them to rest. That level of trauma really sucks the life out of you. Your body and mind need time to recuperate. John can still be reduced to tears, or start to have a panic attack just by the mere mention of the circumstances of his war wound being traumatic, or of Sherlock jumping from the roof of Bart’s. Sherlock went through a lot while he was off wiping out Moriarty’s network those two years, things that will have caused physical and mental scars, and it looks like they are both going to go through even worse in Season 4. The stress and trauma seems unrelenting.I’m a person who went through a five year stretch of unending trauma, and death, and loss, in real life and my body and mind are still recovering, so it’s probably quite personal, as well. So that’s why I like to read and write about it. It’s cathartic, and it addresses things like mental and physical trauma in a way that is realistic, rather than brushing it under the carpet for adventure and drama’s sake. Some people see fandom as just a fun escape, which is great and fine, but I think that other’s see it as cathartic or healing, and so they try to explore these themes in a slightly deeper and more realistic manner. And I like the idea of them going away somewhere quiet to reset their systems, to explore the love they have just now acknowledged, to find a new sense of balance, and purpose, and after a few years of that…? Who knows, maybe they would want to go back to more full time crime solving. There’s nothing to say they can’t have both.I like this @sussexbound because it doesn’t preclude them also still working on crimes. It’s like a nice holiday option for them, something to ease into over time. -- source link
