Brazilian soldiers pose for photographs before shipping to war, World War II.Yes, the Brazilians did fight in World War II, in Italy against the Germans. An expeditionary forced of 25,500 men were sent in 1944. In the photo they are shown with Brazilian Mausers and their own military gear, but upon arrival in Italy they were issued M1 Garands and US Unforms (for standardization sake)Perhaps the most incredible part of the Brazilian Expiditionary Force were the exploits of the Brazilian Air Force. In the Italian campaign they destroyed 85% of the ammunition depots, 36% of the fuel depots, 28% of the bridges (19% damaged), and 15% of motor vehicles (13% damaged) while accounting for only 5% of the missions flown by Allied forces in Italy. -- source link
