10 years later and I’m in Edinburgh, Scotland preparing for my last performance of Bayou Blues at this festival. A one woman show that steps into every aspect of the culture of New Orleans, shining light on my experience of colorism. Sometimes I feel like no one understands what it means, what I face…It’s not easy being a young black woman with a dream today. And even though it’s 10 years later and I still don’t have a home yet… I’m like a gypsy. I’m grateful. God help me but I’m grateful.
