Okay, just some incoherent tl;dr thoughts I need to keysmash into the void somewhere lol.Season 2 confirmation news got me thinking of scenes/battles we’d finally get to see animated, and my one brain cell just keeps circling back to the parallelism between Yuuji and Megumi’s conversation in Shibuya before they parted ways in Ch.98 to Sukuna and Uraume’s brief reunion and parting in Ch.117. Megumi’s final words to Yuuji: “Don’t you forget it” → “I’ll see you later” Sukuna’s final lines to Uraume: “Don’t neglect your preparations” → “See you later, Uraume” Both (Megumi and Sukuna) are reaffirming an indirect promise to the other, while reminding them (Yuuji and Uraume) at the same time to hold on to their end of said promise/agreement.I don’t know/I don’t think (probably not??) there’s anything really more to these scenes except that Akutami just really likes drawing parallel scenes this is intentional isn’t it, Sensei?? but lol it’s an intriguing choice… It especially amuses me also how after each pair parted ways, Sukuna ran off and saved his favoured human Megumi from dying by healing his fatal injuries and then defeating Mahoraga, while Uraume went on to have a stand-off battle with Yuuji while trying to protect Kenjaku and Sukuna’s honour. Not that they really needed to because Sukuna’s overpowered/doesn’t really care, but still roflll. Also, according to soukatsu’s translation of Uraume’s character file shared today (which is the same as in the official fanbook): Uraume is said to have been associated with Sukuna unwaveringly (千年前からガッツリと) for 1000 years. So… Uraume → Sukuna and “following unwaveringly (resolutely) for a millenium.”Megumi → Yuuji [Tsumiki] and "unwavering humanity/compassion” is enough for him……. -- source link
