2tokyo: Books I use for studying Japanese. When I entered university I thought the books we would be using to learn Japanese are gonna be Genki series. But nop, apparently they are too heavy to carry daily and instead, they opted for making notes online that we need to print for classes. My top books for self-study would be にほんごチャレンジ . Lately, I am often using にほんごチャレンジN4[ことば]. First I would look at words and learn them off using Memrise after that I would read the provided text and attempt exercises. This method seems to be working for me. When I want more grammar explanations/ examples I open ひとりでできる初級日本語文法の復習 英語版. The small size of the book makes it easier to carry around. The last thing would be シャドーイング 日本語を話そう. I try to listen to it for at least 10 minutes a day and repeat! Even though it gets boring at times, repetition is the key to good pronunciation. Dialogues are easy at first but become harder the further you go. -- source link
