A drawing response @dragonbuildingprompts that didn’t start out as OC stuff I swear. The original prompt can be found here, basically asking what if dragons but small. I had the original sketches for this done a week ago. Then stuff happened. My doctor put me on an antidepressant for the first time. It started out fine but now I feel like shit. I can’t tell if I’m actually sick or if it’s just aggravated anxiety. There was a point in time where I convinced myself that I had rabies. I don’t (probably) but still am looking to get vaccinated for it. Just in case. So, this gradually morphed into the TDG for brain healing purposes. It occurred to me while drawing it that almost all the guys have dragons specific to their heritage and thought it would be fun. Dwoll has two for his mixed parents: a Persian dragon and a German/Swedish lindworm. Both are tricky for beginners in the trade. Like most dragons, lindworms need to get their venom removed at a young age. Because they’re small it can be irritating but not life-threatening. What you really have to look out for is over-feeding. A lindworm will grow in proportion to how much they eat, how much territory they have, and how many possessions they have in their “hoard”. A simple reptile tank will keep them at a manageable size. Persian dragons, though they look an awful lot like East Asian dragons, are far more temperamental. The easiest method to distinguish them is their snouts; persians have a pronounced camel-like snout with feline jaws beneath. In addition, adults have decorative fire around their shoulders and eyes (non-flammable, thankfully). Similarly, Q has a Japanese dragon. Compared to the persian they are much more calm and docile. Not entirely however. Ryu have been known to be aggressive when confronted with lesser water spirits, like kappa and shachihoko. It’s best to keep them away from rivers and ponds just in case, no matter how much they want to swim. Always keep in mind that eastern dragons require a lot of maintenance in regards to their facial hair and antlers. Angel has the biblical Leviathan. The most popular of the chaos-serpent breeds, even more so than midgard serpents and apep. Even in a world of tiny dragons it is financial suicide to underestimate their size. Leviathans can grow to almost twenty-five feet in length, regardless of their container. If they live in too small of a container leviathans have been known to get themselves in tangles. Tangles can be very detrimental to their health and well-being. It’s not uncommon for people to renovate pools into new tanks for them. Just make sure to remove any pool-cleaner or chemicals. Normally leviathans are content to swim. Angel just… well, Leviathans aren’t particularly known for being subservient to heavenly forces, to put it lightly. And Rabbit… Rabbit isn’t really from anywhere. And a dragon would probably just go right through him. But he wanted to join in on the fun so he made a shadow-puppet dragon. -- source link
